We are currently seeking a Landscape Architect to join our St. Louis team. In this role, you will lead and contribute to a wide range of projects, overseeing all phases from concept development through construction administration. You may also be responsible for defining project scope, delivering strategies, and creating detailed work plans to ensure successful project delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the design and management of landscape architecture projects.
Develops, modifies and reviews drawings for landscape architecture projects.
Demonstrates creative thinking abilities and contributes to Firmwide design excellence and problem solving.
Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
Demonstrates understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.
Participates in managing client relationship and fosters a commitment to client service.
Assures HOK document standards are met and archives documents appropriately.
Assists in preparation of proposals; participates in interviews and public presentations.
Understands intra-company agreements, contracts and deliverables and assures HOK standards for project management are met.
May mentor and direct the work of staff.
Proactively engages staff and provides opportunities for development.
Actively promotes collaborative culture, participating in cross-disciplinary coordination with architects, engineers and construction teams to ensure innovation and design excellence.
Represents HOK at industry events, civic meetings, and community engagement opportunities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture or architecture, and
8 years’ experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience required.
Registration with current license required.
LEED credential required within 12 months of employment

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead design, production, coordination, and detailing of landscape architecture services as part of a multi-disciplinary team including outdoor spaces for urban areas, parks, campuses, and schools.
Lead and conduct site analysis, environmental assessments, site planning, stormwater management design, hard and soft scape design.
Lead and assist in coordination of engineering systems with engineers and consultants; actively partner with project Design Leadership to carry through design intent; and coordinate with all other team members on project assignments and documents.
Prepare design sketches of moderate to complex site plans.
Communicate project status, design intent, construction updates, and other critical information in a clear and compelling way to the owner(s), consultants, and clients.
Participate in Business Development activity and partner with Marketing and Office Leadership as needed to help grow top line.
Take a proactive leadership role within the project team and the office; take a leadership role in team meetings.
Perform field site observations. Field site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
Develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the life of the project.
Facilitate integration of performance-based and sustainable design strategies into design solution whenever possible.
Lead landscape architecture services within project teams by using process expectations, industry and firm best practices, reference standards, tools, templates, and technology to achieve competitive advantage, superior service delivery and quality, and enhanced team productivity and profitability.
Create a stimulating and rewarding environment that sets the tone for design and technical excellence.
Empower staff and delegate effectively; build high-performance teams by encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
Provoke critical thinking and critique of work; also, identify and share lessons learned with teams
Supervise, monitor, train and direct work of interns and less experienced team members.
Monitor the technical quality of the projects by enforcing the application of QA/QC process standards and requirements while ensuring that all statutory requirements for the project are achieved.
Perform other duties as assigned.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Minimum Bachelor degree in a landscape architecture required.
Minimum 8+ years of related professional experience required.
Current Landscape Architecture Registration in the United States required.
Landscape Architecture licensure required. Preference for Missouri and Illinois licensure, with option to gain reciprocal licensure once hired.
Knowledge of horticulture and sustainable design.
Knowledge of local and regional regulatory environment.
LEED accreditation preferred.
Knowledge of landscape architecture codes and requirements.
Must possess business acumen.
Must be a critical thinker.
Must be highly analytical.
Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
Must have the ability to be client facing with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong technical knowledge, coordination skills and the ability to build a rapport with the project team and client is essential.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required. Revit (preferred but not mandatory).
