Advocacy

Licensure is the essential element that allows Missouri landscape architects to practice nationwide and enjoy an equal opportunity to compete in the design profession. Each year, advocates from St. Louis ASLA and Prairie Gateway ASLA meet in Jefferson City for Advocacy Day to educate legislators about the landscape architecture profession and create personal relationships between our profession and their communities.

Licensure acquisition and retention are possible due to the vigilance of the Design Alliance providing professional feedback to the licensure board; MALA monitoring legislative actions that could affect licensure and practice; and the ASLA membership supporting MALA with advocacy and financial support.

It is truly a team effort between practitioner and licensure organizations that allows a positive, equal opportunity environment for the landscape architecture profession to thrive. Do your part and become involved! For more information on how you can participate contact Susan Maag – VP of Advocacy, susan@slmconsult.com
